Pandora Hearts help...?

I don't really understand the deal with Gil's turmoil in chapter 43 of Pandora Hearts, or the whole thing with Jack, I guess I don't really understand why it's such a big deal, or how exactly that changes his relationship with Oz? (Also, why he wants to kill Alice so much, but I asume that'll be explained in later chapters? Or is it something I missed?) Thanks!
