Alternative to mats:) Help for horse with poor feet?
When I rebuilt my stalls, I had organic soil brought in for my flooring. It is great, always clean, easy to clean, low expense as I only had to buy it once. But my horses are turned out 24/7 with their stall doors locked open so they can come and go as they please. And they have lots of acreage to graze and walk about on. The best thing would be to turn your horse out. Believe me, a horse will not pee and poop in his house unless he is not given a choice. If he has to stand in a bacteria laden floor, his feet will not heal. Hoof care is a factor as well. Do you use any medication on his feet? How long has he had problems? Is he chronic already? Is the central sulcus open between the heel bulbs?
