Is it worth going to the doctors with underarm pain?

I started feeling a pain in my right armpit yesterday and I'm wondering whether it's worth going to the doctor's about. I'm a 17 year old boy and from people I've asked the pain is to do with my glands? It's getting quite difficult to move my arm around, etc and it gets really sore whenever I touch it or even try to wash it (I still do wash it! I'm not a smelly bugger!) So shall I go just to make sure? Perhaps if it's an infection or something I can get antibiotics or will the doctor just laugh at me and tell me to man up because it'll go down in a week or 2?
