Does anybody still buy full albums?

Yes, I like to own the medium and read the notes but mainly I want CD quality not download quality. I would buy more CDs but the recording techniques seem to have changed to accommodate inferior listening devices (like cheap earphones) so now the sound quality is not good enough for quality Hi-Fi equipment. Recordings now seem to boost the sound to fill the available sound space instead of letting us luxuriate in the different textures and intensities of the music. Current recording techniques have the subtlety of a train crash - The sound level just keeps coming. I honestly believe CD sales would pick up if there was a return to using the full dynamic range ... AND it would do justice to the talents of the performers.
